BETA VERSION OF THE TA-TUTOR WEB-SITE  - FEEDBACK

27 Dec 1999
Dear Lewis, -- I have just used several of your handouts to prepare a half day of training for the paraprofessionals who work with our inner city middle school children in South Philadelphia. I have been looking for a suitable metaphor for why interactions with these children so often and so quickly go awry and TA was perfect for the task. I just needed well written materials for laypersons that would not insult anyone's intelligence. Thank you kindly -- and wish me luck with my training project.

Lewis -- the Site looks GREAT!!! You should be very proud.
I found it easy to use, easy to navigate and could print handouts in color and B & W.
some minor suggestions.
1 Increase type font size on home page, it's a bit difficult to read.
2. The yellow dots as boarders are a little distracting. I understand the tie in to PAC but you may want to use this more selectively throughout the site. That's about all I have.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! It must feel like giving birth. Much Success, John

Hi Lew,
I'll make time to look further at your site. I've already downloaded a few HO's with no problem ... nice material!!
The one over-all area on your site I would change, is the yellow dots / circles. Too, too busy. No lines or thin minimal lines would be less distracting. Anyhow, that's it for this moment. Nice piece of work Love Tice

I just love the site. And especially I love the intimate way you reveal yourself.
Will send all my comments later. Just want to send Multi-Warm-Fuzzies to you and Lucy for this wonderful gift to the TA community and to the world. It is particularly poignant to me to receive it on July 12th which is often not a great day for Ireland. God bless you for your generosity.
I look forward to the finished version so I can link to it on my site. Love, Elizabeth

Dear Lewis
This are my first remarks. I only had time to take a quick look so far.
I looked at it in Netscape 4.04.
RESOLUTION 1024 x 768 My normal resolution is 1024 x 768 as this shows more on the page, though in smaller type. The ta-tutor looks fine in it when the window is about two/thirds of the screen width.
800 x 600 Fills the screen and works fine
600 x 480 As you said, has to be scrolled across to the right.
Would you consider putting in a click-note with instructions on how to change screen resolution for the uninitiated?
TOP BAR The text on the second line doesn't show properly
COLOUR LINKS I personally would like if the links changed colour when used. In such a rich site, it is quite hard for me to remember where I've been (must be old age)
SITE MAP PAGE I would appreciate dotted lead-lines from the item to the explanation in sections where there are more than three items - again, age must be doing things to my eyes - either that or I am rushing too fast to read accurately.
NEED A - HAVE A Love this section, think its a great idea.
However, it is still a bit wide for my browser.
ERIC BERNE MEMORIAL WINNERS I know it would add an extra bit of work, but it would be great to have references for the TAJ articles and the books for which the awards were won.
CAPITALS Finally (for now) are you intending to leave the capitals through out. After a while, I begin to ignore them because the content is so good. However, I have to say they do grate a bit at the start. Once again, thanks so much for this gift.
I can't get over your generosity. May you be rewarded a hundredfold. Love  Elizabeth

FYI: On my browser, Netscape Navigator 3.0., the frames on your site don't work; they overlap each other, and a large chunk of text scrolls off the screen to the right.

Finally, a site with some printable, usable TA information! Well done. The only suggestion I have is the background color. At times it makes the text on the screen hard to read. You can bet that I will be a frequent visitor to your site. Keep up the good work.

I am a graduate student, and an active duty Marine. I took a class in group  behavior and rediscovered TA. I will be back to check out your site in detail. I am planning to become certified in TA, I am particularly interested in how it is used in organizations, as I am a Human Resources major. Any information you can give me would be appreciated.

Hi,  Thanks for this site. I like how you encourage the use of your material I wish others will follow your idea. Your content is great.
I personally have my difficulties with the visual appearance. The way you use the link colors is  not standard. On a standard browser you do not see which links were used and which not. Please do not use reserved colors. The yellow dotted delimiters make it very hard to read the screen, they irritate my eyes.
Please go ahead with your work, I like your site and I will definitely recommend it to my friends.
Warm regards from Switzerland, Toni Lipp

Hello Lewis:
Your TA-Tutorial is very interesting. I'm a brazilian psychiatrist that works with TA in psychotherapy. I have a tutorial in portuguese (more simple than yours) in my website.
Maybe it can be useful for you to indicate to people who speak portuguese or spanish.

Hello,
I've been a 'heavy user' of TA since 1978. I was very active in the National and International organizations. I use TA a lot in my professional life, but the TA-organizational part (conferences - workshops etc.) gradually faded away. I stopped putting energy into it. Checking the TA tutor connects me back to the "good old days". It is rich, fun and helps people to get together. I'm very excited reading and exploring it.
One aspect I don't like: the graphical construction of the pages. The three stacked circles have a meaning to TA people. I know. Using them to bring structure to the pages is distracting from the real message. Ask a graphical designer to take a look at it and suggest some changes. Be sure I'll get in tough again with you when I come across other issues.
CONGRATULATIONS.
I'm aware of the effort it takes to come up with such a web-construction, GREAT JOB. I'll recommend the site to anyone who might be interested in TA.

BETA VERSION OF THE CD VERSION - FEEDBACK
17 Sep 1998 From: Elizabeth Cleary liztai@indigo.ie

I got a copy of the Beta version of your CD TA-Tutor from Claude Steiner at the recent conference in Zurich. I am very pleased with the performance and would like to give you feedback as you requested. MY SYSTEM: Windows 95
16MB RAM  HD 2.5GB Speed 200 megahertz Sound card and graphics

1. General arrangement, the placement of buttons, other graphics  No problems. All links seemed to work well. I would have liked a 'Back' button and 'Forward' button on every page. It was a bit awkward going back to the Menu each time.

2. Colour scheme, OK or too plain, too simple, hard to see, dull just right? I Like the colour scheme. Would like a note on the beautiful garden in the background - wondering if it is your own garden was a distraction to me. I liked the way some of the concepts had a 'theme' colour, and wondered if you might develop on this. REMARKS on colour-schemes.
It may be that people with visual impairment my have difficulty with the blue on blue text, and those with colour-blindness might not enjoy the vegetation background. They may also have problems with red and or green print. There are sites on the internet dealing with this - I plan to have them check my web-site.

3. Is the representation of TA theory accurate?  Any distortions, discounts, deletions, misquotes, mis-attributions, parts left out? I haven't read through every word of the notes, but what I have scanned over seems fine. I will let you know later if I find any errors. Bear in my that my own knowledge is limited to what I have read. I begin training as CTA (Educ) at the end of this month. One thing omitted in a number of places is that TA TODAY is by Ian Stewart and Vann Joines. Ian Stewart's name is omitted.

4.Are the handouts useful? Do they 'read' on-screen OK? Do they print out OK? I have printed out the handouts and on Saturday, I intend trying them out on the TAI group (Transactional Analysis in Ireland see http://indigo.ie/~liztai/tai_home.htm) My only concern would be that they are too rich a diet for 'TA babies'

5. Any 'bugs' that you have found? Either within this program or specific problems related to your specific computer.

6. Any printing problems? Not technically.  However, I would suggest that you put even margins rather than allowing for binding. I did some items back to back to save paper, and the margins didn't work.

Any screen-display problems? On my screen 14-inch, the right-hand side of the screen is missing at all times. To give you an idea of how much is missing, on the   Menu Page I can see the word 'PURPO' and everything after that is gone. If there is a scroll-bar, that isn't showing either. At the end of the handout pages, I can only barely see the Print button, though clicking on this morsel activated the printing OK. However, a new-comer to computers mightn't realize that you can do this.  Any speed Problems? No.

Other comments.
I have to say that I really enjoyed the experience of using this CD. And I look forward to further versions.

However, the one negative comment I would make is that it reads like a book. I would have liked interactive learning with some kind of scoring device. (e.g. you have completed x number of questions and have got y answers correct. You are z% on your way to knowing all this program teaches.)

I would like to hear from you what your teaching objectives are, and specifically who you see as your target audience. If it is rank beginners, then there is too much information - I know because this is a criticism I constantly receive about my own work, That I am feeding steak and caviar to infants. Having different levels, cross-referenced might work here.

I also found the print quite small for screen reading - I understand that 14 point is the comfortable font size and Ariel or other sans serif font (which you do use) is the recommended font style for ease of reading.

Another thing which I would like is to be able to print the theory pages - I know I could do a graphic printing using Print Screen, but you might consider telling people this, if it is not possible for you to include printability on each page.

What I really enjoyed was the moving diagrams, and the surprises when moving the mouse around. I also loved your little video intro. I felt as if I got to know you a little bit, and this acquaintance was then enhanced when you shared some personal stuff in the Attitude Triangle.

Finally, having said that I really enjoyed it, when you have it complete and are putting it on the market, I would be very happy to do a review of it on the TAI web-page. I am not quite sure how we could include part of it to demonstrate to people about it, but if you do some kind of promotional item in html I will happily include it.

Keep up the good work - you have put a huge amount in already, and deserve lots of congratulations strokes.

Warm regards

i got the TA-tutor von Hansruedi Hunter, Switzerland in context of Mitac 98 in Zürich. In the moment I want that you know: One of your beta-versions is here and I like it very much. It´s easy in handling, clear in structure, it´s personal in a good way (photos for example). Two years ago, together with other authors, I was answerable for a Toolbook-präsentation (Theme: Drugs-pervention for Teachers) and so i can apprise and appreciate your work. You have done it very well! A careful feedback is in preparation. It needs a little more time, because it´s hard for me to do it in english and i am very busy with my TA-Trainings.
Best wishes

Dear Mr. Lewis

I received the TA-Tutor at the TA-congress in zurich last year. I am very enthusiastic about your work. I find it clear and helpful. Specially the combination of the drama triangle with limits and the OK-Corral. I also liked very much your presentation of the Ego-States. I had no difficulties in printing what was possible to print.

So I'm very much looking forward in buying the full version. Is it possible to get it in Switzerland? Or do I have to order it from you? I thank you very much for having letting me know your work!
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,
